Hi, my name is Amy and I'm a member of the Kentucky group. I saw your post and clicked over to your journal. I like your poem--very Adrienne Rich in a way, confessional--and I read with great interest your entry about your crisis and subsequent trucking career. It is fascinating--roaming the U.S. Ever since I read Steinbeck's Travel's With Charley I thought what a great life it would be if you can hack it!

I hope you will add me as a friend, and I'll do the same for you. I'm fairly lj-new, and trying to get my daily read list! Obviously, I love to comment! My journal is rambling, get-it-out-of-my-head OCD bullshit right now. I'm working on a web page that's taking my time and energy (it's for an interview for a college English teaching job--an e-portfolio, as it were...) and I'm working full-time at a bookstore. But I think we might find common ground!

I hope to hear from you! By the way, check out the Southern writers group--you might like it. You seem interested in the south, and all the rural life. I live in a rural area myself, by choice. I have a book idea (what person who teaches English and works at a bookstore doesn't!)about rural life. Maybe I can discuss it with you!

i'm relatively LJ new, too... i've had the journal forever, but have never really utilized it or become part of the community... kinda trying to change that...

i'll defintiely check out southernwriters.. although not al of my tuff is as pastorla as that one... i just had this need to do two things with that poem... honor the memory of a lost friend and honor my memories of where he and i grew up together... tying in the different seasons an what not....

anyway... what's your idea for a rural life book? as it turns out, i have one too.... :)
