truckstop grub

Location: Caldwell, ID

I didn't know that the prophetic tone of my last entry would be such a harbinger of things to come....

Things only got worse after leaving Redding the other night, although it didn't have much to do with Roger, just events beyond our control.  I will write about in more detail at a later date, since I'm supposed to be in Chicago by Friday morning and this is just a quick stop before we get back on the road.

The good news is, I will likely be rid of Roger by the end of the day and have some fresh blood on board as he has become adamant about being finished with his training despite my reservations.  If he wants to beat his head against the wall everyday until he gets this stuff that's between him and the training department.  He can handle the truck, he's just going to be in a world of hurt when it comes to trying to do his job every day in terms of planning his trips.

For the record:

-Pilot truckstops have the awesomest new coffees.  Their Arabica dark roast with a big ol' shot of french vanilla cream and sugar is about as good o' joe you're gonna find for a buck and a quarter.

-Petro truckstops have a ham, swiss and egg on grilled sourdough on their breakfast menu that is skee-rumptious.

-Flying J has a new surf-n-turf offering that is the bomb.  It's steak cooked to order with grilled shrimp smothered in a hollandaise sauce.  I recommend the rice as the side, you can mix the generous slathering of hollandaise into it and the yumminess just, um, exponentiates.

Edit to add: Roger will be off the truck no later than 10pm... woohoo!
