This was in my mailbox this evening. I have no idea what it's for. Of course, I have settings set so that graphics don't download with the e-mail unless I ask it to, and since it's spam, I'm not going to... I have it on good authroity from someone who has worked in e-mail marketing how a lot of times a (sometimes invisible) graphic tagged in an HTML e-mail is a marker. It isn't embedded in the e-mail, it actually points back to the graphic on the internet. Anytime any file is accessed on a web server, lots of things can be told about who is accessing that file ( IP address, OS, type of computer, etc). Of course, if done properly it can also cross-reference with the original mailing list that sent the spam and identify you as a sucker who opens his spam and there you go onto a marketing list. Anyway, I digress.. What's interesting is the title and then all of the little pithy things contained therein. I actually dig some of these and figured that some of them were probably actual quotations, so I thought I'd look them up... turns out they all are.
(My comments in bold).
