About 8 years ago, I decided to start keeping a list of shows and concerts I had attended, as my mind was becoming fuzzy and, music geek that I am, I wanted to preserve my memory of them, lest I forget.  Since then, I've been faithful about maintaing it.  I used to have it as a simple HTML page, but since Livejournal has become soopageek central, I thought I'd make an entry, save it as a memory, and update it as necessary for my own amusement.  For YOUR amusement, here it is.  There's plenty of laughable things below.  There are some I did for silly reasons (usually a girl) and some just because it was what I was into at the time (like the classic-rock/hair metal of my youth).  Feel free to be as snarky as you want.

cos i'm SAVIN all my LOVE!

yes i'm savin' all my lovIN!

yeah, i'm savin' all my love for YOOOOOOUUUUUU!

I hate you for getting to see Babes in Toyland.

yay! another babes in toyland fan on my f-list... you're one of TWO ;-)

yeah it was really cool to get to see them... i wish they'd get the reunion bug and tour again :)

Jello Biafara

(Anonymous)
Spoken Word tour? I was there, too, but it was at Memorial Hall on UK campus; not "Whitehall Auditorium." I remember a ROTC rushing the stage and getting escorted out by security when Jello burned the flag, Jello's story about running for mayor of San Francisco, and getting my H.R. Giger poster from Frankenchrist autographed.

Boz

thanks boz... i dunno why i wanted to call that whitehall auditorium... probably too many traumatic experiences in the whitehall classroom building...

corrected :)

you know, i think i vaguely remember seeing you there that night now that you mention it... but i'd have never remembered it otherwise

i was four years old when my father took me to see that very pink floyd concert

frickin awesome

so which of these bands do you really enjoy? and i love jello biafra.

what a mindfuck.

my mom took me to see Elvis Presley when I was about 4... i have a vague recollection of it...

i would think the big pig that came floating out over the crowd or the crashing airplane and it's pyrotechnics might scare a four year old though...

then again, elvis in '74 was probably pretty scary, too

which of these bands do i really enjoy in general, or which did i really enjoy seeing live?

Haha. Slint. What an old fogey.

Snark!

But a hip old fogey... ;-)

Besides, experience is where. it's. at

DOKKEN?

AAAAAAAHAHAHAAHAHAAHAA!

I can't believe this, but I've seen more concerts than you. Especially if you count local bands. I didn't expect that.

One of the downsides of living in a rural area. If I lived in a major metropolitan area, I'm sure my list would be much greater. Like, everyone plays Boston, NYC, Chicago, LA, and Seattle... and then elsewhere depending on the size of the tour. As it is, I had to do a lot of travelling to places like Cincinnati (75 miles away) or Columbus (150 miles away) if I wanted to see a band sometimes.

I intentionally left out local shows... I figured they a) don't really count and b) wouldn't be of too much interest here :)

oh... and I didn't go to that incarnation of "Monsters of Metal" for Dokken, miss smarty pants. although the reason probably isn't much better... i have a soft spot for Diamond Dave era Van Halen but he split the band before I ever got to see them play... so i saw Van Hagar at that show and i saw Dave solo, to gonna get the... um, best of both worlds, so to speak.

...And Justice For All era Metallica at that show was just icing on the cake.

Dood no mention of the Skank/PBM reunion just recently I'm hurt
