bullet the blue sky

t's been over a week since I updated? Wow. And there's so much to write about and no time to devote to it. You know what they say; when the going gets tough the tough use bullets... er, something.

  • welfy and I finally got moved into the house in Frankfort on Wednesday. I've been spending a good deal of my time moving furniture, putting together furniture, and hooking-up electronics and appliances. Right now, we're using a combination of the Sprint Air Card I have and leeching WiFi from our gracious neighborsgoingincirclez/mix3d3m0ti0n5 until the city Plant Board can get the cable and internet installed on Tuesday.

  • While in a Lexington computer-oriented store to purchase a cable modem for the impending installation, Welf and I were checking-out when the chick behind the counter says, "I know you from LiveJournal." Chick indeed. It was hxcpunkchick. I had only ever seen like, maybe two pictures of her and neither of them looked like the girl standing before me. It was kind of strange. It's the first time I've ever had anyone recognize me solely because of my affiliation with some web site. Clearly, I am posting entirely too many pictures of myself. Speaking of pictures and this livejournal.friend, here's the gams photo she sent me that I hadn't posted yet.

  • My truck is in the shop again. The clunking noise was the result of a bad top plate on the 5th wheel which I'm having replaced. I also had the shop do a DOT inspection on the truck. They identified some other minor problems like a bad brake chamber and a faulty air line, both of which I suspected anyway. The top plate won't come-in until Monday or Tuesday, so my time-off will be extended until Wednesday morning.

  • The extra time afforded me by the repair work will allow me to attend a dinner party with Welf at El Casa de thawaltzingfool, which I was sure to miss with the original plan of going back to work on Monday morning. In other socializing news, Welf and I are headed to my brother's tonight for the celebration of my nephew's birthday. My brothers and I usually play dodge ball at this event. Additionally, my sister in-law has rented one of those big air-filled jumping thingies that you get inside and bounce around in. Yeah, I'll be all over that.

Tif is my hero. Seriously! I so <3 her. She used to take care of me when my epilepsy was a problem.:) She's a rock star!

Unfortunately she was working and we were busy flitting from place to place that afternoon and we didn't really get a chance to chit chat.

I yet again must apologize for missing your call the other night, as well as not having returned it yet. I've just been so busy with this moving mess all week I forgot about it. This is becoming habitual.

You're absolutely correct. I have no idea what you're talking about.

Yeah, the first time (hell, it's only happened two or three) that someone said to me "Hey, aren't you in The Emersons, it was pretty damn weird.

Ack re: the truck. Better at home than on the road, though.

Glad things are going well for yinz.

I just wished I had gotten it into the shop earlier in the week so that it could've been ready to go when I was. The logistics of getting the truck to the shop and all the moving coordination just didn't work out and I didn't get it there until Thursday afternoon. As for the actual repairs, eh, I sorta expected it and had the funds waiting to take care of it.

Incidentally, I found a really reasonable shop near Frankfort. I don't know if you recall the Waddy/Peytona exit on I-64 (the Flying J betwixt Louisville and Lexington). There's a diesel repair shop maybe a mile north of there. Labor?

$55/Hr. Wooha.

you have the best gammage on the net..well..your friends do :P

Welcome back, and enjoy the time off!

I've been having a lot of fun doing this, unforuntaely I only have a couple of photos left unless there are some last-minute entrants.

it will be a sad end to a great ride. Awesome idea :)

Yes I'm excited, too. You're one of my oldest livejournal.friends and it's been far too long.

I love those bouncy things, but try not to blow out another ankle.

I was spared the chance to break another ankle. Whoever was supposed to bring the bouncy thingie never showed. :(

Hey, congratulations to you guys on the moving in, and I hear you re: putting furniture together. I have had an absolute gutful of nailing banana boxes and milk crates together, and balancing railway sleepers on cinder blocks. However, I had the best looking credenza in New South Wales before it fell through the floor, injuring two.

Is the 5th wheel a sandwich of metal plates? They always looked to me to be a one piece arrangement.

Oh, and don't close Gamfest '06 until I get my shit together. I need one more thing, and I'll submit.

There's a base (which is typically on a track for axle-weight balancing) and on top of it rests the top plate, which has the usual horseshoe design and it swivels up and down slightly on a pivot and has the locking mechanism for securing the kingpin. My top plate was loose somewhere on the pivot/base, causing it to slip about a half-inchm when pulling a trailer and a resulting clunking sound.
