photo mayhem!
just got back on the road after being off for nearly a week, hanging out with welfy in Western PA. I had a great time and took hundreds of photos. It occurred to me that I haven't posted a photo mix since March. So without further ado, here's a random assortment for your amusement, in reverse chronological order. As always, feel free to ask about anything which strikes your fancy.

oh, ew, burgoo.

You don't like burgoo? That's crazy talk!

or maybe everclear soup

they may as well just call it corn and animal butt soup with tomato as far as i'm concerned.

Re: or maybe everclear soup

I miss the old Memorial Stakes Day they used to have at the Red Mile with the big burgoo/chili cook-off. Man, was that ever a tasty day.

Re: or maybe everclear soup

ha ha, i remember those. one in particular i remember was really hot and humid and lame (ugh, kentucky weather) and it was the first time i ever tried cherrpy-flavoured pepsi.

of course it was also the last.

getcher motor runnin

I went a couple of years, when they would have aging classic rock bands play in the infield. I think one year it was Steppenwolf! Heh.

It was always hot and full of rednecks getting drunk in the infield and puking all over the place. After going a couple of years I quit going... since the event was discontinued I'm guessing others had stopped going, too.

I wish my cats were half that mellow. I'm trying to figure out the best way to get them from FL to NJ with the least amount of trauma.

Eh, the only reason she seems so mellow there is because she had already been riding with me in the truck for a couple of weeks and was acclimated to the environment. She HATES arbitrary changes in her environment and has a minor freakout whenever she's in a new one until she gets adjusted to it.

As for your dilema... the least trauma for them is going to be to drive them up. Whether in carriers, or allowed to roam free in the vehicle, they'll feel at least a little comforted by having you near, hearing your voice, and being pet.

I guess least trauma for you would be to fly them as cargo.

I was thinking of flying with them, but putting them under the seat. I can't decide if two days in a car freaked out or 4 hours in a plane freaked out is worse.

Hrm, well I guess if you can take them onto the plane as carry-on so that they can know you're there that flying might not be such a bad option. Could you get a direct flight or would you have to change planes in Atlanta?

Plenty of direct flights. The problems are I need two tickets (a person for each cat) and then it's an extra $80+ for each animal. All of that is do-able, I just worry about taking then out at security. I'd give them valium shots before, but my cats are the type to run.

Thanks! We had bought some cheapo fake moustaches at a costume store earlier in the day in Pittsburgh...

For the record, from left-to-right, that's styrofoamhead, moi, and welfy

Woo, mini golf! Great photos!

Did you notice Moses parting the Red Sea in the background?

That was taken at a mini-golf course at the Lexington Ice Center. They have 3, 18-hole courses all biblically themed. One's Old Testament, one's New Testament, and... I forget what the other one is... heh.

Welf kicked my butt on the Noah's Ark hole.

Hahaha! OMG how did I miss that? That's just great!

I saw FUBUcat!

She's so adorable. I wish I could have a Fubucat.

Too bad she's one of a kind. ;-)

You should see the balls! (wah wah waaaaahhhh)

When we went to Thunder Over Louisville we parked in a garage directly behind the Louisville Slugger Factory, which is what the bat is leaning against. :)

Heh, that was totally luck since I was obviously driving while taking that picture. ;-)

Hey - is that 4th one from the bottom (the rows of grey buildings) on 27 south of Nicholasville or is that a different distillery operation ?

Nope, it's Heaven Hill in Bardstown.

I love the tree/barn/pond one. Photoshop that bitch and make it greener, I vote.
