i ain't good lookin', but ya know i ain't shy

ok, the subject is not true, but i can't get that song outta my head and for good reason....

tuesday i went to louisville for a work-related trade show... the show actually occured on wednesday but it was a customer appreciation sorta thing where they had a dinner and dancing the night before and they put me up in a hotel room for the evening on tuesday... i got to the dinner... ate some of the free food... decided the band sucked and i didn't know anyone so i high-tailed it for Caesar's riverboat casino....

i like to play blackjack...

i cashed in $60
at one point i had $600 on the table....
i walked out with $362

the next day i went to the show... saw the couple of people i needed to see and browsed through all the booths in about on hour....

and went back to the casino

cashed in $160
cashed out $100...

ok.... on paper that doesn't sound good.... but there was a learning curve there.... i considered that at one point... over the two days... i was a total of almost $1000 up.... but during my learning process i made some bad bets... and i began thinking to myself that if i corrected those errors, that i had a knack for blackjack

so after two days at the blackjack tables i started thinking i had blackjack figured out.... which scared me... because, you're not supposed to figure things like blackjack out :).... i'm a sane, rational person who knows that casino's exist for a reason.... but i also know there are people that make their living gambling in casino's....

and i think the people who do that know when to exercise caution.... they don't bet the ranch because they're being "lucky" that night.... blackjack is a game of endurance... weathering the slow hands and taking advantage of opportunities... but with some restraint....

i could never bet more than i could actually afford to lose...

so anyway... i had to work the next day so i came home... however, i was done by about 3:30 in the afternoon and could afford to knock off for half a day so i figured i would test to see how good i was really was... if i really had the knack or not..... i think i was convincing myself that i needed to go lose so i would know it was a fluke and get it outta my system.... so i went back to the casino for another long session of blackjack..... my roommate went with me, just for the helluvit

cashed in $100
cashed out $500

so i've just found a very lucrative part time job until it proves to be otherwise.... during my time off from my day job you can find me in my spacious office just outside New Albany on the second level... i'll be the the guy with the large piles of chips in front of him....
